With a theme of “Filipino Nurses: A Voice to Lead Achieving the Sustainable Development,” ?the College of Health and Sciences held their annual Capping, Badging and Candle Lighting ceremony ?at the Basilan State College Amphitheater on the 8th day of August 2017 at 9:00 am, witnessed by the ?CHS students.? The 13th Capping, Badging and Candle lighting ceremony marks as a milestone from the time ?when Basilan State College was still affiliated with Western Mindanao State University and 4 years of ?being under the CHED-ARMM. ? A doxology led by Ms. Farhana Baholoy opened the event, a fourth year nursing student ?followed by the Philippine National Anthem. Opening remarks was then delivered by Mrs. Leticia M. ?Babas, the CHS Clinical Director, a Registered Nurse and a Master in Nursing.? Candidates which composed of one male and 13 females were then presented by Mrs. ?Roxana U. Siose, RN MN M.A.Ed., Dean of the CHS. Then an acceptance speech was given by the ?College President, Dr. Nasser A. Salain Al-Haj. ? Subsequently, Imposition of Caps and Badges were lead by the College Dean and Mrs. Babas. ?The nightingale’s pledge was then spearheaded by this year's Florence Nightingale (the lady with a ?lamp), Ms. Vida Joy M. Mangubat, a fourth year nursing student.? An inspirational message was brought by the college president and stressed, “Obtaining ?nursing education like you are today, involves tremendous costs and points.” Some points were ?brought up during the event and announcements were made. Later the speech, Herlyn Balais, the ?Batch 2020 President also gave a speech as for the student's response.? The college dean gave a message for her closing remarks and she quoted that “Our dear ?students you have already entered the world of nursing but this is only the beginning of what you ?would like to achieve”.
