BaSC to hold ASEAN Campus Tour (Rosheil M. Ramos, Jezka A. Tayongtong Mark C. Melgar, Marc Vincent J. Balber) An ASEAN Campus Tour with a Creative Localized Title: “UNIDO: One Vision, One Identity, One Community, One ASEAN” will be held at Basilan State College on July 14, 2017. An ASEAN Youth Forum will take place at the BaSC Amphitheater which will be participated by 200 Youth Leaders from 10 different colleges and Grade 12 schools of Isabela City. This event will serve as an awareness campaign of what ASEAN is all about and the issues concerning the Asian Youth. Mr. Rene V. Carbayas, Information Center Manager of Philippine Information Agency (P.I.A.) and Ms. Nilda T. Delos Reyes, Information Officer of P.I.A. led the first meeting on June 22, 2017 at the MPA Room, BaSC, together with Mr. Argie J. Sarco, the Dean of the Office of Student Affairs and Services (DSAS), the Instructors from the different departments and colleges and students from the different organizations of Basilan State College. The purpose of the meeting was to inform the concern offices and organizations about the upcoming ASEAN Campus Tour. Also, they presented the plan, discussed the flow of the program, and the necessities for the said event. Some concerns were raised by the people involved and Mr. Carbayas considered to have some adjustments regarding the preparation. The 200 Youth Leaders will be from Basilan State College (Myanmar), the host school of the said event, whereas 50 delegates will be coming from Furigay College Inc. (Thailand), Alano School of Midwifery (Cambodia), Claret College of Isabela (Singapore), COMTECH (Indonesia),CCI Grade 12 (Laos PDR), Basilan National High School Grade 12 (Vietnam), Isabela City National High School Grade 12 (Malaysia), Malamawi National High School Grade 12 (Brunei Darussalam), and Begang National High School Grade 12 (Philippines). Each school was assigned with 2 Youth Ambassadors to represent the national costume of their assigned countries under the ASEAN Community. On the 7th day of July, the second open forum was spearheaded by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) in partnership with Basilan State College, NAGDILAAB and Mindanao Youth Development that was held at the BaSC President’s Conference Hall. Previous agendas from the first forum were reiterated and were given more clarification. Also, tasks were given to different clubs and schools. The following are the schools who are said to participate and their corresponding tasks; NAGDILAAB for the grouping of participants, MYDev for the supplementary materials, BaSC as the Host and Chronicler to stand as the media. On the third and final coordination meeting for the preparation of the ASEAN Campus Tour, attended by different youth ambassadors coming from different schools and foundations and BaSC faculty and staff, Mr. Rene Carbayas discussed the final plans and necessary adjustments needed for the said event. Some of the representatives of different schools and colleges in attendance were Ms. Jocelyn D. Caberte of BNHS, Mr. Jeremiah M. Ramos of MNHS and Donna Gay T. Pastera of Alano School of Mifwifery. Matters stressed were the designations of tasks which covers the polishing plans for the physical arrangements such as stage set-up, lightings, table arrangements, sound system, choreography etc. Then, there has been a further discussion and agreement on the finishing touches about the program flow in which it covers the registration of the participants, different functions of the ambassadors and facilitators, the actual workshops, and the over all break out sessions. Also, it was agreed that the group must have established an effective and proper coordination system that will indeed contribute to the success of the event. Briefings must as well be made and effective communication must be prioritized among coordinating members. Final touches have been done and the real event is fast approaching.
